Urban Planning, Community Engagement

Central urban neighorhood in San Diego, CA

The “Paths of Discovery” activity was part of a community engagement for the update to the Community Plan for the Mission Valley neighborhood in San Diego, CA in 2015. The result of this planning process would determine future development and redevelopment in this urban neighborhood. For this exercise, community members were asked to map out their favorite neighborhood places and their routes from one to the next. This graphic as an at-a-glance summary of all of the activity results. The map chronicles the places participants highlighted and the modes of travel. Places that were mentioned more are shown as larger bubbles, while paths that were traveled more are shown with thicker lines.
